Cookies, trackers and consent
Under the EU’s GDPR and ePrivacy rules, most analytics and advertising cookies need the visitor’s prior, informed consent — set before the tracker fires, not after. In practice that means a proper consent banner that actually blocks tools like Google Analytics and the Meta Pixel until the visitor accepts.
This checker fetches your page and looks in its HTML for common trackers (Google Analytics, Tag Manager, Meta Pixel, TikTok, LinkedIn, Hotjar and more) and for a consent-management platform. It also flags Google Fonts loaded from Google’s servers, which a German court has ruled can breach GDPR.
It’s a fast first pass, not a legal audit — trackers injected by JavaScript only after load may not show, and it can’t confirm whether your banner truly blocks tracking before consent.
If you use non-essential cookies (analytics, ads, embedded media), yes — and it must block them until the user consents. Essential cookies that make the site work don’t need consent.
